HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.

Fernando Gamarra booked voiceovers for Robitussin and the City of New York. In addition, he did voiceover work for the NBC program "Dateline." He plays Pepe, the undercover agent in the program. To see the program (and hear his voice), click here, here, here and here.

Yanelba Ferreira
played the lead role in the film short Loaded (written and directed by Andrea Williams and produced by Aliki Paraschis). For more information, click here.

Héctor Luis Rivera and María Teresa Silva will be in the play Los tres golpes. Written and directed by Yunior A. Ventura, the show is produced by Teatro Tempo and is scheduled for a November run as part of the II Festival Hispano del Comisionado de Cultura Dominicano en EEUU. The play will also feature José Miguel Vázquez, Alé Chadid, Nelson Hernández, Ramón Sánchez and Ventura in the cast and will take place at the Comisionados Dominicano de Cultura en los Estados Unidos in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.

Bill Santiago is continuing his national stand-up comedy tour with a stop on November 4 and November 5 at the Comedy Vault at Stoneham, Massachusetts (right outside Boston). For more information, click here.

Thalía Spanish Theatre just completed a run of Colombia en su salsa/Colombia in Salsa. A co-production between Thalía (Ángel Gil Orrios) and Mestizo Dance Company (Armando Moreno and Wilson Fernando Mesa), the show had a September and October run and highlighted the music and dance of Colombia. It featured the music of Harold Gutiérrez and his band and a special appearance by Anissa Gathers. Thalía's next production is Flamenco & Lorca. A tribute to the poet/playwright Federico García Lorca on the 75th anniversary of his death, the show is a co-production with Andrea Del Conte Danza España (Yloy Ybarra) and features guest singer Chayito. The show is scheduled for a November and December run at Thalía's eponymous theater, located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Queens. For more information, click here.

Elizabeth Rivera de García is performing her spoken word poetry in Titillating Tongues: NYC Erotica in Poetry & Prose. Produced by The Inspired Word, the event will take place on November 3, 2011 at One and One in Manhattan's East Village neighborhood. For more information, click here.
